300-400 Pakistani drones targeted Indian locations from Leh to Sir Creek, says govt

The Army said, “Pakistan sent 300-400 drones in 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek last night to target our military installations.”

Elaborating on how India foiled Pakistan’s attempt to attack, the Army said, “Our armed forces shot down many Pakistani drones using kinetic and non-kinetic means.”

“One Pakistani armed unmanned aerial vehicle sent to target Bhatinda military station; the attempt was foiled,” Army added.

Slamming Pakistan, Misri said its “farcial denial of its attempts to target installations in India is another example of its duplicity”. Mentioning about how the Indian defence forces thwarted attempts made by Pakistan, Misri emphasised that Indian armed forces responded proportionately and adequately and added that India launched armed drones at four air defence sites in the neighbouring country and one drone destroyed an AD radar system.

Following the overnight attack by Pakistan, the Indian armed forces retaliated, targeting “air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan” and neutralising Lahore’s air defence system. Blackouts were imposed in over 15 cities, from Srinagar to Chandigarh to Bhuj.

The Ministry of Defence late Thursday said that there were no casualties or material, and the threat was “neutralised” using kinetic or non-kinetic means.

In its earlier press briefing on Operation Sindoor, held on May 7, India had said that its approach was “focused” and “non-escalatory”, mentioning that no Pakistani military establishments had been targeted in the strikes.

“On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems,” the briefing stated.

Foreign Secretary Misri also pointed out that the May 7 counter-offensive was only a retaliation to the Pakistan-backed terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam and that India’s approach had been “targeted, precise, and measured”.

“Our approach is not to escalate the situation, we only responded to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack,” he said.“Pakistan escalated the situation, we only responded. Choice is with Pakistan,” Misri further added.
