Observations from Indianapolis Colts’ 2025 NFL schedule
Home-heavy to start: Four of the Colts’ first six games will be played at home and five-of-eight overall to begin the year.
A difficult stretch? On paper, Weeks 12-16 looks like a challenging test for the Colts. Included are games against the Chiefs, Texans, Jaguars, Seahawks and 49ers. The Chiefs and Texans were in the playoffs last year, the Seahawks had 10 wins, we all know about the struggles of playing at Jacksonville, and the 49ers aren’t a team to count out, even after a down year.
Putting on some miles: The Colts have two separate road stretches where they are traveling back-to-back weeks, and in both instances, they have a cross-country flight. From Weeks 3-4, after playing at Tennessee, the Colts travel to LA to face the Rams. Then in Weeks 14-15, after playing at Jacksonville, Indianapolis travels up to Seattle. Overall, the Colts are logging the seventh-most travel miles this season.
Opportunity to bank some wins? From Weeks 5-10, the Chargers and Steelers are the only teams in that six-game stretch who made the playoffs last season, and this year, Pittsburgh has their unknowns at quarterback currently. The Titans and Raiders both picked in the top 10 this past April, while the Cardinals were below .500 and are traveling to Indianapolis.
A well-positioned bye week: I imagine most teams want their bye in the middle of the season, and that’s just about how things played out for the Colts, who will have their week off after 10 games.
One primetime game: As of now, the Colts have one primetime game on the schedule, when they face the 39ers on Monday Night Football in Week 16. Their matchup in Germany against Atlanta will also be a standalone game.
