Another day, another wide receiver target has been linked to the Steelers — as it was reported recently that Pittsburgh was inquiring about trading for New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave.

From Brandon Aiyuk to Davante Adams, Deebo Samuel, Cooper Kupp, back to Aiyuk, and almost every big-name receiver in between — Steelers fans have been living through Groundhog Day with just about every failed wideout trade attempt. Pittsburgh almost certainly hopes things with Olave work out differently — but there are plenty of reasons for concern, especially surrounding the reported asking price.

According to PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh, acquiring Olave it wouldn’t be cheap — with his trade value predicted to be in the neighborhood of a second-round pick.

Saints beat writer Ross Jackson argued that the deal could be reminiscent of the DK Metcalf trade package, which the Steelers likely wouldn’t do twice in a year.

Despite Olave’s concerning history with concussions, the Saints clearly view their wideout as a vital piece of the offense moving forward — which would force any team looking to make a trade to offer up premium draft capital in exchange.

Considering Olave’s health concerns and the Steelers’ desire to load up on draft capital ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft — likely in pursuit of their franchise QB — Pittsburgh should wait until the Saints’ asking price has drastically fallen. After all, other receivers are available both via free agency and trade.
