During his voluntary OTA press conference, Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt expressed his excitement about the upcoming season and the opportunity to experience full offseason workouts.

“It’s going to definitely help me get my body in shape (and) get used to hitting and grinding out those long, tough days in training camp,” said Hunt, “That’s what helps you get through the season.”

Last season, Hunt led Kansas City in rushing with 728 yards and seven touchdowns. He didn’t join the Chiefs until Week 4 last season after being signed due to Isiah Pacheco’s injury.

“I’m definitely going to be able to come in guns blazing,” said Hunt. “I’m excited that I get to get my legs underneath me and actually do football stuff and work drills and go against defensive guys and stuff like that so that just prepared me more instead of just coming (in), not being tackled or touched.”

Hunt’s full camp with Kansas City will be essential for the new season. He may not be the same player who earned All-Rookie and Pro Bowl honors in 2017, winning the rushing title with 1,327 yards, but he’s an effective, experienced option in the backfield.
