Nellore: Former minister and YSRC leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy has been named in a case relating to the illegal conversion of Rs 60 crore worth of government land into patta land by hacking the digital land records of the state government.
The case pertains to the unauthorised conversion of 14.14 acres of government land located adjacent to NH-16 at Kakuturu, near Nellore, into patta land in 2021. The accused allegedly hacked the digital key of then Venkatachalam tahsildar I.S. Prasad to tamper with the Webland portal, the state’s official digital land records system.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao arrested two key accused—Boddu Srihari and Boddu Masthan—who reportedly confessed to Kakani’s involvement, according to police sources.
So far, eight people, including a deputy tahsildar, have been arrested in connection with the scam. Further investigation was underway.
