The Cleveland Browns are set to open up their preseason tonight against the Carolina Panthers, and it is sure to draw a ton of viewers as quarterback Shedeur Sanders makes his first start.
Not only making his first start, but he is expected to carry a heavy workload in his first career NFL appearance. Ahead of this start for Sanders, his father, Deion Sanders, has some thoughts. These thoughts come after Deion has already publicly stated that Shedeur has asked him to stay away from Browns camp so that he can focus on business.
Deion has stated that and his son have already talked three times today, acknowledging that Shedeur making his first start with another head coach other than himself is “going to be strange for the both of us.”
As for how Sanders has prepared for the starting gig, even in a preseason game? His father has stated not to be worried about that:
“He’s so prepared right now … he’s approaching it like a (regular season) game.”
It hasn’t been easy for Shedeur Sanders to sit back and watch three other quarterbacks get first-team reps while he has not gotten any. So, with Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel sidelined in this matchup against the Panthers, Sanders has a real opportunity to show the Browns that he deserves to have a real voice in the competition. Deion Sanders has stated that his son understands the magnitude of tonight: “He’s thankful and appreciative of the opportunity.”
Until gametime, which is right around the corner, we are left with just chatter. Hopefully, Sanders gives us more positives to talk about.
