Bhopal: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of theft of votes by BJP in the last Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday triggered a political row chief minister Mohan Yadav and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia calling it ‘atrocious’,
Reacting to the Congress leader’s charges, Mr. Yadav said it reflected the urban Naxal mindset of Mr. Gandhi.
“Such an atrocious statement is not expected from the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mr. Gandhi. He has discredited his position (as LOP). He should apologize to the nation for giving such an unsavoury remark”, Mr. Yadav said.
Mr. Scindia who was here on a day’s visit to Madhya Pradesh on Saturday slammed Mr. Gandhi for making such ‘horrible’ statements and said the Congress has already gone bankrupt from its vote bank and is now blaming others for vote theft.
“The person who sees India as dead, calls its economy dead, questions integrity of judiciary and impartiality or Election Commission (EC) and does not hesitate to insult our defense forces by demanding evidence of their strike against Pakistan should not be taken seriously”, Mr. Scindia said.
Mr. Scindia said the Election Commission (EC) is an autonomous constitutional body which acted impartially and transparently.
He accused Congress of spreading negativity in the country by targeting the constitutional bodies in the country,
State Congress president Jitu Patwari said BJP has raised a hue and cry over it because the party is scared of being unmasked by Mr. Gandhi.
Mr. Gandhi made the controversial comment at a function on Friday.
