Well, the Denver Nuggets weren’t the only professional sports team in the “Mile High City” to make a move on Tuesday.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Denver Broncos are signing former Carolina Panthers safety Sam Franklin. Per Meirov, the special teams ace is set to go out west on a one-year deal.

The Temple University product entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and has spent each of his first five pro campaigns with the Panthers. Over 74 career games, he’s recorded 105 combined tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble—with 1,327 of his 2,109 snaps (62.9 percent) coming on special teams.

Franklin was voted a team captain by Panthers players ahead of the 2024 season, the first such honor of his NFL tenure. He went in to appear in 10 games after being limited by a foot injury he sustained during the summer.
