Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Thursday that he is in touch with his counterparts in states where there have been reports of Kashmiri students allegedly being harassed and threatened in the wake of the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

“The J&K government is in touch with the governments of the states where these reports are originating from. I’m also in touch with my counterpart Chief Ministers in these states and have requested they take extra care,” Abdullah has said in a post on X.

Such reports have been coming emerging from states including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, as well as from Chandigarh. In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, a group called the Hindu Raksha Dal has warned Kashmiri students to leave the state or face consequences.
