‘A.P. records highest-ever Q1 net GST collections since GST rollout’

Andhra Pradesh Chief Commissioner (State Taxes) Babu A. said that the State has set a new record in tax revenues, reporting the highest-ever net GST collections in the first quarter (Q1) of financial year (FY) 2025–26 since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in 2017. The State’s net GST collections for Q1 stood at ₹8,860 crore, reflecting a 3.4% year-on-year growth, while overall tax revenues across all sectors reached ₹13,361 crore — a 2.02% increase over the same period last year.

In a press release on Tuesday, he said that June 2025 alone saw net GST collections reach ₹2,591 crore, an increase from ₹2,419 crore in June 2024 — a 7.1% jump year-on-year. This marks the highest-ever GST revenue for the month of June. Total tax collections for the month amounted to ₹4,167.66 crore, recording a 6.58% rise, he said.

The surge is due to robust enforcement, increased return compliance, real-time data monitoring, and the State’s growing economic activity. Professional tax collections rose by an impressive 70% in June, while VAT from petroleum products also showed strong growth. The IGST settlement for June was ₹365 crore. Key revenue-enhancing strategies included 24/7 vehicle checks, automation in tax scrutiny, strict enforcement of return deadlines, targeted investigations, AI-driven analytics, and recovery proceedings against defaulters. These measures helped expand the tax base and plug leakages.
