Andhra Pradesh Government will be setting up a global mega Medicity in Amaravati through Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.
Addressing the media in Amaravati on Monday, Naidu said the proposed medcity will be developed in 200 acres, of which 100 acres will be earmarked for healthcare services, 40 acres for residential and 20 acres for commercial use. “This initiative, jointly handled by the Health Department and CRDA, will also promote health tourism,’‘ the Chief Minister said.
The Center was also planning to develop 25 Medicities across India, he said adding that discussions were on to locate one of them in Amaravati.
The State was leading in implementing Ayushman Bharat health accounts with health accounts already created for nearly 88 per cent of the State’s population, he said.
A Digital Nerve Center is being set up in Kuppam as a pilot project and in Phase 2 Chittoor district will be covered while the whole State will be brought under this in Phase-3, he said.
“The goal is to establish virtual hospitals within 26 months, store health records in DigiLocker and track individuals’ health from childhood. Alerts will be sent to predict health risks and mobile medical vans will facilitate home testing while doctors will be available online and offline,’‘ Naidu said.
With the help of Tata and the Gates Foundation, the State would adopt world-class healthcare technology and practices, according to the Chief Minister.
Every constituency will have a 100 to 300-bed multi-speciality hospital. Of the 175 constituencies, 70 already have such facilities while the remaining 105 segments would get new hospitals under PPP mode with viability gap funding and land allotment, he said.
