Crowell will now announce his commitment in June, nearly six months before his original date.
Earlier this month, 2026 four-star running back Ezavier Crowell announced he was moving his commitment date up from his previous announcement date of Dec. 31. On Thursday, Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that Crowell will declare his commitment on June 26, nearly six months earlier than his original date. Auburn remains in the mix to land the nation’s No. 4 running back, joining Alabama, Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Florida State.
Auburn currently has seven commits for the 2026 recruiting class. If the Tigers are able land Crowell, he will be the first running back commitment for the class that ranks No. 33 nationally by 247Sports. He has visits scheduled for Georgia (May 30), Texas (June 6), Auburn (June 13), Florida State (June 15), and Alabama (June 20).
The current Auburn running back room features Damari Alston, Jeremiah Cobb, and Justin Jones as returning players, with Alston and Jones leading the group as seniors. They will also feature UConn transfer Durell Robinson, who is a sophomore. Robinson, Cobb, and four-star 2025 signee Alvin Henderson are slated to return for the 2026 season. The addition of Crowell could give the Tigers an elite backfield combo in the future.
Crowell is currently the No. 7 ranked player by 247Sports in Alabama, and No. 92 nationally from the 2026 recruiting cycle. Last season, he rushed for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns as a junior, and led the Jackson Aggies to the AHSAA Class 4A state championship.
