Cincinnati Bengals fans know all too well just how ordinary most spring and summers haven’t been for quarterback Joe Burrow.
Think, rehab for the knee injury. Or the wrist. Even the non-contact leg issue. That whole thing as an incoming rookie that caused his NFL draft to happen in his living room in Athens, Ohio.
But Burrow says this leadup to the 2025 season is the best he’s felt yet this time of year.
“This is the best that I’ve felt in the offseason,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Just like every year, trying to get better, trying to get stronger, faster, healthier. Try to find ways that you can optimize your health throughout the whole season, not hurt as much. I’m in a good spot.”

There’s always a little grain-of-salt warning worth throwing out with quotes like these. It’s May and NFL players are typically in the best shapes of their lives and such.
But Burrow remains a pretty genuine interview, and the fact that he’s so far removed from the bumps and bruises of past injuries makes it more believable. Like it or not, so does the fact he wasn’t playing deep in January and has had time off.
This good fortune needs to chase Burrow and the Bengals into training camp and beyond for the vibes to remain high. But right now, there isn’t as much injury concern as has been the norm in Cincinnati.
