Bizman Loses Rs11.6 lakh In Fake Online Trading Scam

Hyderabad: A 31-year-old businessman fell victim to an online trading scam and lost Rs 11.6 lakh after being lured through a fake Facebook profile and a fraudulent trading platform.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of Neredmet, complained to the Rachakonda cybercrime police. He said that he had received a friend request on Facebook from a woman identifying herself as Nithya Varma. After chatting with her for around 10 days, she gained his trust and moved the conversation to WhatsApp. She introduced him to an online trading platform and encouraged him to register through a link that she shared with him.

Initially, the target invested a small amount, and as he appeared to earn profits, he began investing larger sums. Ultimately, he paid Rs 11,60,050. When he attempted to withdraw his alleged Rs 26 lakh in profit, which wais visible on the platform, he was first asked to pay taxes and then ended up receiving only a small amount.

An officer said that the victim believed he was genuinely earning profits and realised too late that he had been cheated.

Minor slips and falls into quarry pit, dies

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old boy died after he reportedly slipped and fell into a deep quarry pit at Jawaharnagar while trying to film an Instagram reel. According to sources, the deceased had recently completed his Intermediate second year and was exploring various locations to shoot reels along with friends. They visited Jawaharnagar to explore quarry sites with unique backgrounds.

The boy, accompanied by a couple of friends, was attempting to film near the edge of the quarry when he reportedly lost his balance and fell into the water-filled pit. His friends called out for help. With the assistance of nearby locals, police, and Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel, they managed to retrieve the boy’s body from the water. His parents later took the body to their home at Medchal for final rites.

As the family suspects no suspicion or foul play, they did not file a complaint with the police and as a result, no case has been registered.

Girl falls into Saroornagar lake, dies

Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl was found dead in the Saroornagar lake on Tuesday. He family had reported her missing on Monday, police said. Her parents Palakurthi Srinu and Shravani make their living by attending to daily chores in nearby areas.

The girl was playing near her home in Green Park Colony, adjacent to the Saroornagar lake. Her parents were speaking with neighbours when she went missing. Not finding her anywhere, the parents lodged a missing complaint with the Saroornagar police. Police, along with DRF teams combed the nearby areas and conducted a search operation in the lake but they could not trace the child.

“Before we could resume the search on Tuesday morning, the body found floating by the family,” said inspector Saidi Reddy, Saroornagar police station. The body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the family.
