CITU district general secretary Kandrapu Murali pointed out on Tuesday that the staff strength at TTD used to be around 15,000 permanent employees. But only 6,000 are currently in service, leaving over 8,500 posts vacant. He underlined that the employee strength has not kept pace with the sharp rise in pilgrim footfalls and expansion of infrastructure in the last decade. The existing staff, especially Class IV employees, are thus struggling to manage multiple responsibilities.
Murali criticised the administration for failing to realise this aspect and respond to the genuine concerns of the staff. “Instead, it is creating additional pressure on the burdened staff through disciplinary actions,” he pointed out.

Specifically, the CITU leader condemned the TTD vigilance wing for targeting 35 employees of SVIMS Hospital, issuing notices to them questioning their religion and demanding certificates. In the same manner, it is conducting surprise checks at schools, causing mental distress to students.
Murali pointed out that the TTD management has announced arbitrary suspensions of 18 employees and issued multiple show-cause notices in recent weeks, causing distress among the employees, leading to some young staff even suffering heart attacks.
