Hyderabad: BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao on Friday urged the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to conduct an overall review of madrasas across the State and the education imparted to students in them.

In a letter addressed to Revanth Reddy, Rao recalled a series of recent incidents that happened in places of worship in Secunderabad, Old City and Vikarabad.

Recently in Islampur in Medak constituency, an incident happened where a few children studying in a madrasa went into a grocery store and destroyed an idol and it was also recorded in CCTVs. Prior to this, a law and order problem took place in Medak town regarding ‘Love Jihad’.

He said the municipal officials complained to the police that many Bangladeshi citizens were residing illegally in Sadasivpet and secured voter cards and Aadhar cards. In Jinnaram madrasa, out of 70 students studying in it, 65 came from Kishanganj in Bihar to study.

However, their complete details were unavailable. Those running that madrasa also have no connection with Telangana. Although they claim to be from Bihar, West Bengal and other States, locals strongly suspect that they were not Indian citizens.

Rao sought to know how many unauthorized madrasas were established in Telangana. How many were running without permission? How many students are studying there? Why were their family details not revealed? What are the topics being taught in madrasas?

After the massacre carried out by terrorists at Pahalgam, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued orders to immediately send back Pakistanis staying across the country, along with other illegally residing foreign nationals, to their home nation.

According to those orders, how many Pakistani nationals were sent back by the Telangana government? The people of Telangana also wish to know what action has been taken regarding other foreign nationals residing illegally in the State.

“As the Chief Minister of Telangana, you are holding both Education and Home department portfolios. As a Member of Parliament, I request you to immediately conduct a detailed review of madrasas in Telangana to know the number of students studying in them and their background apart from lessons taught in them,” he added.
