Here is a closer look at Travis Hunter’s performance on offense and defense in the Jaguars’ preseason game vs. the Steelers.
As Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen said on Thursday, Travis Hunter played both ways in the team’s preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On the Jaguars‘ first offensive possession, Hunter was on the field at wideout with Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown when the offense was lined up in 11 personnel.
On that drive, we saw Hunter lined up in the slot, and he had three passes come his way, catching all of them, although one was negated due to a penalty.
Two of those throws came on short, in-breaking routes for Hunter, and the other was on a wide receiver screen to the flat.
Officially, Hunter ended the night catching both of his targets for nine yards.
Hunter then took over at cornerback on the Jaguars’ second defensive possession. He played five snaps and was not targeted. Hunter had an opportunity to make a tackle in the run game around the line of scrimmage, but missed.
ESPN’s Michael DiRocco noted that there may have been some confusion in coverage.
Hunter was on the field for a second consecutive possession on defense and played three more snaps.
He finished his night playing 18 total snaps, with 10 coming on offense and eight on defense.
