Kurnool: Law and minority welfare minister N. Md Farooq stated that it is everyone’s responsibility to remember the contributions of Bhagiratha Maharshi. He was speaking at the Bhagiratha Jayanti celebrations held in Nandyal, organised by the Backward Classes Welfare Department.
The minister praised Bhagiratha Maharshi for bringing the Ganga from the heavens to earth to help his ancestors attain salvation. He emphasised that it is our duty to honour and remember such a great personality. District BC welfare officer R. Obulesu, Nandyal district Sagara Sangham president Uppari Suresh Kumar, and others participated in the programme.
In Kurnool, district collector P. Ranjit Basha paid floral tributes by garlanding a portrait of Bhagiratha Maharshi. He noted that the birth anniversary was being observed as per state government instructions. Bhagiratha Maharshi proved that great achievements are possible through determination, and youth should draw inspiration from his life to pursue their goals.
He further stated that the government is committed to improving the living standards of backward classes and is making continuous efforts to ensure they receive the full benefits of welfare schemes. Training is also being provided to BC students through DSC study centres, he added. BC welfare officer K. Prasuna, Yadava Corporation director Venkateswara Rao, and others were present.
