‘Evolving modern muscle’ – Dodge flexes new Windsor-made gas-powered Charger

McAlear touts the high-output Sixpack as the most powerful version of the Hurricane engine currently in production, delivering 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft. of torque.

The Sixpack can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds.

The standard-output R/T delivers 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft. of torque.

“It’s no secret that we’re absolutely flexing more into ICE (internal combustion engine) production right now,” said McAlear.

“But we are not walking away from the power, the performance, and the excitement that battery electric provides.”

In recent months, Windsor Assembly has undergone several shift fluctuations. However, Windsor workers returned to a two-shift schedule ahead during the week of June 23 as production of the Sixpack and electric Daytona began.

Despite the uncertainty, McAlear said he hopes the anticipation surrounding the newest gas-powered offering gives a much-needed boost to the company’s Windsor factory, which employs around 4,500 people.

“As soon as the tariffs stabilize and we’re able to ramp up our manufacturing curve, we’re launching a lot of cars right now at Windsor,” he said.

“We’re still producing the Pacifica. Now we’ve got two-door, four-door Daytonas. We’re bringing out high-output, standard-output, two- and four-door. So, as we ramp that up, as the landscape stabilizes on tariffs, then we will look to grow production. 

“We want to employ as many people as possible and produce as many vehicles as possible.”
