Mark Bowman makes his interest in Texas clear
As Mark Bowman begins the next step in the recruiting process, he has narrowed his list to seven schools. The programs that made the cut were Texas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, Miami, Ohio State, and USC. Bowman has been a popular target for offenses in need of help at tight end.
The Longhorns target is ranked as the No. 16 overall player and the No. 1 tight end in the 2026 class by 247Sports. He is one of three tight ends with a five-star rating in his class. Bowman, who has been a human highlight reel, has been playing for the same high school program that produced Matt Leinart, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Bryce Young.
For Bowman, the key will be choosing an offense that can maximize his talents. The Longhorns have had success with tight ends recently. One example is Gunnar Helm, who was a fourth-round pick in the NFL Draft this year after a successful run with Texas.
During his high school career, the California native has frustrated defensive coordinators with his rare combination of physical strength and speed. Those characteristics make him a threat in any offense. Since becoming part of the 2026 class, Bowman has become one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the country.
At the moment, Bowman is expected to end up at Georgia. He has drawn comparisons to former Georgia legend Brock Bowers who was stellar as a rookie for the Las Vegas Raiders. If he can match those expectations, then the Bulldogs offense will be hard to stop.
Over the next few weeks, Bowman will be watched closely. He is one of the best options available in the passing game in the 2026 class and would transform any offense, including the Longhorns.
