Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar Thursday described the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir as “inhuman” and asked the Centre to help the injured and the kin of the deceased.
“What kind of motive is fulfilled through such killings… This was an attack against Kashmir and its people. People of Kashmir are in favour of peace and tranquillity…” said Sarkar.
He urged the Centre to bear the medical expenses of the injured. He also asserted that the security should be strengthened and the Centre should identify the loophole that led to the incident.
Further, Sarkar asked the Centre to identify the culprits and give them exemplary punishment.
Speaking about the terror attack, Sarkar also criticised the Centre over the abrogation of Article 370. “After the Pulwama attack in 2019, this (Pahalgam terror attack) was the biggest incident. Nearly 40 soldiers were killed in the Pulwama attack. Article 370 was abrogated… The steps taken by them from their hollow, self-complacent standpoint for narrow political interests are getting an adverse reaction from common people,” the former chief minister said.
On Thursday, Tripura also witnessed widespread protests led by different political parties and their affiliated wings over the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Condemning the terror attack, Chief Minister Manik Saha wrote on his social media handle, “We will not forget, we will not forgive the cowardly terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
