The first weekend is officially a wrap in the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. After three days of relatively drama-free basketball, we finally got our first thriller of this year’s March Madness. Maryland’s Derik Queen hit a buzzer-beater to beat Colorado State after the Rams hit what they hoped was a game-winning three with six seconds left.
The lack of drama could also bode well for a fun second weekend. Almost all of the heavyweights have advanced, which sets up some big-time matchups. All four No. 1 seeds advanced, and three of the four No. 2 seeds remain alive.
The lowest remaining seed is No. 10 Arkansas, who also happens to be the only double-digit seed still playing. The next lowest after Arkansas are BYU and Ole Miss, each of whom is a No. 6.
Not surprisingly, Arkansas has the longest odds to win the tournament at FanDuel Sportsbook. They come out of the first weekend installed at +11000 to cut down the nets in San Antonio the first weekend in April. Ole Miss is +9000 while BYU is +8500. Duke is the favorite, with +240 odds, followed by Florida at +390.
