The week of the 2025 NFL draft has officially arrived! ESPN celebrated by releasing a brand-new seven-round mock draft. Jordan Reid has the Seahawks executing a bit of a surprise at the top, with Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden at No. 18 overall.
“The Seahawks are entering the Sam Darnold-Cooper Kupp era after trading Geno Smith and DK Metcalf,” Reid wrote. “Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a breakout sophomore season, but the team would still like another perimeter pass catcher and better interior offensive linemen. Golden would settle the former with his consistent hands, wide catch radius and 4.29 speed. He’s a well-rounded route runner who emerged as the WR1 for Texas last season, finishing with 1,272 all-purpose yards (987 receiving).”
In the second round, Reid has the Seahawks selecting LSU tight end Mason Taylor. “The Seahawks get another threat for Sam Darnold,” Reid summarizes. It’s worth noting Seattle had a pre-draft meeting with Taylor.
Two selections later, the Seahawks finally address the interior of their offensive line by selecting Purdue’s Marcus Mbow. Reid calls Mbow, “an athletic space player who would fit in new offensive coordinator Klink Kubiak’s zone-blocking scheme.”
The Seahawks double down on the interior offensive line with Georgia center Jared Wilson at No. 84 overall. With the 92nd selection, the Seahawks take a prospect they’ve been connected to throughout the pre-draft process in Nebraska’s Ty Robinson.
The Seahawks conclude their draft class by landing UTSA cornerback Zah Frazier, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II, Florida linebacker Shemar James, Georgia safety Dan Jackson, and Cal Poly EDGE Elijah Ponder.
It was initially concerning that the Seahawks passed on interior offensive linemen with their opening two selections, but landing Wilson and Mbow helped settle the scare.
