Hyderabad:The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. As a mark of respect to the victims, the TGHRC observed two minutes of silence at 1.20 pm on Tuesday.
Commission chairperson Justice Dr Shameem Akther, members Sivadi Praveena and Dr B. Kishore, along with commission staff, parties, and visitors, stood in solemn silence at their respective court halls. Gazetted officers, supporting staff, and police personnel of the commission observed the silence at the auditorium hall.
Police Warn of Fake Army Donation Scam
Hyderabad:Police urged people to be aware of fake posts that are going viral on social media, asking for donations to purportedly modernise the Army. Fraudsters had created fake websites and were asking for money on social media and messaging platforms, sources said.
“The scammers are sending random messages to the citizens by playing on their patriotism. TGCSB teams are working on it,” an officer said. People should not believe the false propaganda being spread about donations for the Army.” Anyone receiving such calls must immediately report to the police, the officer said.
Stampede Survivor In Neuro Rehab
Hyderabad: Eight-year-old Sri Tej who was injured in the Sandhya theatre stampede during the premier show of ‘Pushpa-2’ on December 4 last year, was discharged from a hospital in Secunderabad on Tuesday. He will be admitted in a neuro-rehabilitation centre for continued care. Sri Tej was taking oral feeds and did not need oxygen or respiratory support, Dr Chetan R. Mundada and Dr Vishnu Tej Pudi said in a health bullitten.
Hyderabad:The HNEW in a joint operation with Nallakunta police arrested Harshvardan Shrivastava of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and architech, and B. Srinivasa Rahul of Chennai, a techie, and seized 1,380 kg hydroponic ganja and 44 LSD blots, all worth Rs 1.4 crore. The police also seized 2.4 grams of magic mushrooms and `10,640 cash. and six mobile phones from the arrested.
The duo used the darknet marketplace “Dread Market” and used encrypted messaging platforms and transacting through hawala and crypto currency, said DCP, crimes, Viswaprasad. To evade scrutiny, the duo used to courier drugs.
Rahul was earlier arrested by the Tamil Nadu police for transporting ganja. Shrivastava was an architect. “Marijuana grown using hydroponic techniques and artificial lights is known as hydro ganja. It is grown in a water-rich environment, not soil. The smugglers usually buy the seeds online and grow the plants using LED lights,” explained task force and HNEW DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra.
Hyderabad:A fraudster posing as an army officer duped a 40-year-old housewife of Rs 1,30, 980 through a rental app. The scamster had approached the victim seeking to rent her flat. He told her that the army would get in touch with her for processing.
Rent payment would be through a “reversal mode,” meaning the victim would need to pay an amount first, which would be refunded, said city cybercrimes unit ACP R.G. Siva Maruthi. The fraudster made her transfer `5, which was credited back to her account. He then asked the victim to pay the full rental advance amount. The amount was debited from her account. The fraudster claimed the process had failed because she was slow, and asked her to send more money.
He used various ruses till she deposited Rs 1,30, 980. She then realised she had been cheated and an online complaint seeking assistance.
Hyderabad:Domalguda police on Tuesday arrested a murder accused, Chepuri Narendar, while he was trying to flee to his native place in Suryapet, central zone DCP K Shilpa Valli said. He was wanted for murdering one Ajay at 2 am on April 27 and dumping the body into a lift duct in Himayatnagar. Police said Narendar was previously involved in murder case in the Chikkadpally police limits and a two-wheeler theft in Suryapet district.
Dundigal Police Arrest Six for Robbing Man
Hyderabad: Dundigal police arrested six persons who alleged robbed a man of Rs 5.25 lakh while threatening him with a fake weapon on March 23. Dundigal detective inspector P. Sateesh, said the gang waylaid the car of one Vinod Kumar near Bowarangpet Society, threatened him and made him transfer the money online.
The following day one of the accused demanded additional money, which Vinod Kumar refused and lodged a complaint on March 26, Sateesh said.
Police arrested Sai Krishna Yadav, Sandeep, Manideep, Devender Goud, Vivek Raj Singh and Sumanth and recovered they money. Tarun and Manoj were absconding, police said. Police said the robbery was based on a previous business deal, which Kumar did not see through and settled in New Zealand. He returned recently, following which one of the gang members raked up the matter.
