The Will Howard hype train will need to slow down just a tad — at least according to insider Gerry Dulac, who argued that the Steelers aren’t likely to make him the top backup QB in 2025.
In Wednesday’s Steelers chat on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dulac was asked if Howard could become QB2 if Aaron Rodgers didn’t sign with the Steelers — and this was his response:
“Probably not. If Rodgers doesn’t sign, which they don’t expect to happen, the Steelers will likely sign another veteran QB to back up Rudolph. I don’t think their plan is to have a sixth-round pick be the top backup.”
The Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh narrative has arguably been stronger than ever over the past few days, with the four-time MVP strongly hinting at signing with the Steelers — but Howard sitting behind more veteran-minded QBs is probably for the best.
Will Howard blow everyone away in OTAs and training camp — or is the sixth-rounder destined for a QB3 role?
