Did quarterback Aaron Rodgers attend the first day of Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp?

That’s the question on everyone’s minds as the AFC North contenders opened their first day of mandatory offseason workouts on Tuesday. Rodgers did not attend the Steelers’ voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) over the last two weeks because they all took place before he officially signed on Saturday.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers is in attendance for the first day of mandatory minicamp. It’s a strong start with his new team for the veteran quarterback, who was an “unexcused” absence at last year’s mandatory minicamp with his former team, the New York Jets.

Rodgers, 41, led New York to a 5-12 record in his only full season with the team last year. The 20-year NFL veteran missed almost the entirety of the 2023 season when he ruptured his Achilles four plays into his first game with the New York Jets.

In 2024, Rodgers completed 63% of passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, but his 6.7 yards per pass attempt were tied for a career low.

The Steelers hope that a new face at quarterback, their third different Week 1 starter in the last three years, will finally be able to snap their eight-year drought without a playoff win. Despite making the playoffs in five of the previous eight seasons, Pittsburgh hasn’t won a postseason clash since a 2016 divisional-round win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
