This Jacksonville Jaguars free agent signing from earlier this offseason stood out on Day 1 of OTAs.
Monday was the Jacksonville Jaguars’ first OTA practice, and one of the standout performers was wide receiver Dyami Brown.
According to John Shipley of Jaguars on SI, who was at Monday’s practice, Brown put together the best performance of the day.
“Brown displayed crisp routes, was one of the few receivers who did not deal with drops, and made explosive plays both through the air and on designed touches as a ball-carrier,” wrote Shipley.
After that practice, head coach Liam Coen would also mention Brown’s performance on Monday, noting some nice plays that he made throughout the day.
The Jaguars signed Brown to a one-year, $10 million deal during free agency. His presence within the offense adds more YAC ability and also another vertical threat, which then frees up Brian Thomas Jr. to attack other levels of the field.
For any offense, having a downfield presence that defenses have to respect is an important element as it can spread defenders out, helping to create opportunities–not only vertically–but in other parts of the field as well.
Brown put together an impressive postseason performance in 2024 with Washington. This included totaling 89 yards in the NFC wildcard round and 98 yards in the divisional round, while averaging 16.4 yards per catch, per PFF.
Earlier this offseason, GM James Gladstone said that the Jaguars view Brown as an ascending player who fits well with what Coen wants to accomplish offensively.
