Despite the Golden State Warriors jumping out to a double-figure lead, including as big as 20 points, the Memphis Grizzlies climbed right back into the game and even took the lead in the fourth quarter.
With the game tight in the final frame and the No. 7 seed in the postseason on the line, Stephen Curry took the reigns.
Leading by two points wth under two minutes remaining, Curry drilled back-to-back triples before hitting four straight free throws to score Golden State’s last 10 points as the Warriors secured a 121-116 win over the Grizzlies in the Western Conference play-in game.
With the No. 7 seed locked up, Jimmy Butler was interviewed on the court after the game. Butler compared his teammate to “Batman.”
It’s real. I’m telling you. That’s a Batman if I’ve ever seen a Batman. Always coming to save the day. You’re never out of any game. And more than anything, he’s just so poised. He’s so calm. He was a huge part of us getting this victory.
Curry finished the game with 37 points on 9-of-22 shooting from the field with six made 3-pointers to go along with eight rebounds and four assists in 39 minutes.
Butler added 38 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals as the Warriors advanced from the play-in tournament to the No. 7 seed in the postseason.
The Warriors will meet the No. 3 seed Houston Rockets in the first round of the postseason on Sunday in Texas.
