University of Louisville redshirt senior center Pete Nygra was named to the 2025 Rimington Award Watch List.

The Rimington Trophy, named after former Nebraska All-American Dave Rimington, has been awarded annually since 2000 to the nation’s best center.

Nygra earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors in 2024 and was named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound anchor has been a steady force in the trenches since stepping into a starting role last season. After a strong junior campaign that saw him start all 13 games, Nygra is being recognized as one of the premier centers in the country heading into the 2025 season.

From the ACC: Named for Dave Rimington, a two-time Outland Trophy winner and consensus All-America center at Nebraska (1981–82), the award has helped raise more than $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Learn more at www.rimingtontrophy.com.

While more than a dozen All-America teams are named each year, the Rimington Trophy committee uses three official selectors to determine its winner: the Walter Camp Foundation (WCF), Sporting News (SN) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

Because these teams often group centers with other offensive linemen, it’s possible for multiple centers to appear on a single first team. The Rimington Trophy committee considers any player who primarily plays center—regardless of how they are listed—as eligible.

The center with the most first-team All-America selections from the three official selectors is named the winner. In the event of a tie, second-team votes are used as a tiebreaker. If still tied, the winner is selected by a majority vote of the Rimington Trophy Committee, with input from Pro Football Focus”

The Indianapolis native established himself as one of the best and most consistent offensive linemen in the ACC and is one of nine from the league to make the Watch List and one of 40 total players.
