The cricket governing body has announced a prize of Rs 58 crore for Rohit Sharma & Co for their historic win and India’s 7th ICC title.
In June last year, when India had won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the BCCI had announced Rs 125 crore as the prize money for the T20 World Cup-winning squad, again led by Rohit Sharma.
This financial recognition celebrates the achievements of the players, coaching staff, and the Men’s Selection Committee who contributed to this remarkable success, said BCCI in a media release.
Under the leadership of Captain Rohit Sharma, Team India showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament.
The team commenced their campaign with a six-wicket win against Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. They continued their dominance with a 44-run win over New Zealand and secured their place in the final with a four-wicket triumph against Australia in the semi-final.Roger Binny, President of BCCI, expressed his pride in the team’s back-to-back ICC titles. “Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special and this reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage,” he said while emphasizing that the award reflects the hard work put in by everyone behind the scenes.The BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, Devajit Saikia, remarked on the team’s performance, and said, “This victory has justified India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket, and we are sure the team will continue to excel in the years to come.”
