Michigan State hockey’s newest commit came from Edina (MN) forward Mason West. The 2007-born player was a massive recruiting win for Adam Nightingale and his staff.
West, coming off of his time at Edina High School will be heading to the USHL to play for the Fargo Force. Before then though, his prowess was recognized.
The 6-foot-6 forward was selected at No. 29 in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, going in the first round.
West is not expected to join Michigan State until the 2026-27 season, but he is a prospect that Michigan State fans should be very excited for, and this NHL draft selection shows that.
