Nashville SC faces D.C. United as it wraps up its four-game homestand May 17.
Nashville (7-4-2, 23 points) is off to its best-ever start in MLS and sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, its highest in two years, as it hosts D.C. (3-6-4, 13 points) at Geodis Park. The Boys in Gold haven’t lost since a 3-0 defeat to the Seattle Sounders on April 19.
Last season, NSC lost both of its games against D.C., including a 4-3 loss at home on Oct. 2, which all but ended its hopes of reaching the playoffs for a fifth straight year. NSC is 4-2-2 in eight all-time meetings against United.
D.C. will be shorthanded against Nashville as striker Christian Benteke, who won the MLS Golden Boot as the league’s highest scorer in 2024, injured his foot and ankle in a draw against New York City FC on May 14.
Nashville also comes in without one of its key players: defender Walker Zimmerman will miss his eighth straight game since suffering a concussion in a loss to Charlotte FC on April 5. NSC has gone 5-1-1 without Zimmerman, a member of the United States men’s national team.
D.C. midfielder Randall Leal, who played for Nashville SC from 2020 to 2024, is set for his first appearance at Geodis Park as a visiting player. Leal has played in five games for United and started against NYCFC.
