U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out resuming trade negotiations with India until the ongoing tariff dispute is settled. The move comes after Washington doubled duties on Indian goods to 50 percent in response to New Delhi’s continued purchases of Russian oil amid Moscow’s war on Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters, Trump was firm when asked if talks could proceed following the tariff hike, saying, “No, not until we get it resolved.”

The White House on Wednesday issued an Executive Order adding 25 percentage points to existing tariffs, citing national security and foreign policy concerns tied to India’s energy trade with Russia.
