One dead, several in custody after police shooting in Saskatchewan

DESCHAMBAULT LAKE – One person is dead and several are in custody after a police shooting in northeastern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say no officers were injured in the morning shooting at Deschambault Lake, a remote community about 140 kilometres from Flin Flon, Man.

They did not give further details about the shooting or the person who died.

An RCMP spokesperson says details will be shared when they’re available.

Mounties say they expect an increased police presence in the community as the investigation continues.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, the province’s police watchdog, has also opened an investigation.
