P-4 in AP: 1.06 Lakh Golden Families Identified In Nellore District

TIRUPATI: As part of the state government’s P-4 (People, Public, Private, Partnership) initiative, the Nellore district administration has identified 1,06,800 golden families, covering around 2.84 lakh individuals.

This was stated by district collector Anand during the district development review committee meeting at the Zilla Parishad conference hall on Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by district in-charge minister N Md Farooq. Some 1,825 mentors have adopted 25,000 families for grassroots-level engagement under the P-4 scheme. Training and awareness programmes have been conducted for officials to effectively implement the initiative, he said.

The session began with a review of the agriculture department. Agriculture officer Satyavani explained the ongoing schemes and departmental activities. Responding to queries raised by MLAs, the collector clarified that there was no urea shortage in the district. The required indenting has been done, he said, and advised farmers to however use fertilizers judiciously.

On staff deployment, the collector said rationalisation of agricultural assistants was being undertaken and personnel were being redeployed.

On the proposed Indo-Sol company at Karedu, MLC Madhava Rao raised concern about land acquisition. The collector said only 4,800 acres have been notified and the livelihoods of local residents would not be affected.

Reviewing the irrigation sector, Endowments minister Ramanarayana Reddy stated that 23tmc of water has been utilized so far this season. Due to favourable rainfall, water from the Srisailam right bank canal and Kundu would reach the Penna river.

Officials said water would be supplied to tail-end ayacut areas, including Udayagiri constituency. Sub-canals are being strengthened to prevent wastage.

Minister Ramananarayan Reddy said a mega job mela would be held on August 2 and 3 in Atmakur. Some 60 companies would participate in this and offer around 1,300 to 1,400 job opportunities.

On housing, the collector said new applications for the housing scheme could now be submitted online. The eligible would get the allotments. “Verification surveys are being conducted to address previous discrepancies.”

He said notifications have been issued for recruitment of 166 Anganwadi helpers and 50 A-workers in the district.
