The Indian government is thinking of sending out a bipartisan parliamentary delegation and special envoys to foreign countries to make a case about how the country suffered the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and how it is united, The Indian Express has learnt.
According to sources, the Indian government is thinking of putting together separate groups, mainly drawing from parliamentary standing committees, to begin with, who can effectively portray that India is united, as it has come under attack from Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisations.
Sources said that they will head to Europe and Gulf countries to begin with.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is working with the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariat to draw up lists of people who would be part of the exercise.
This is, in part, also to effectively communicate that India was attacked first. It then pushed back and gave a retaliatory response to Pakistan as it launched Operation Sindoor and carried out strikes in nine terror locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The retaliation led to a military conflict between India and Pakistan, until, following days of heightened tensions along the border, both countries agreed to stop the military strikes.
Sources said similar lobbying exercises have taken place in 1994, and again in 2008, after the attacks on India from Pakistan-sponsored terrorist groups and networks.
