BASEBALL
SB Adams 8, Concord 6
Concord dropped to 6-10 with a road loss at South Bend Adams on Saturday. A five-run inning for the Eagles was enough to give them the lead for good. Mark Herman drove in two runs for the Minutemen and was 1-of-2 at the plate while the team combined for 10 strikeouts.
Fairfield 6, Jimtown 5
Fairfield won its fifth-straight game with a road win at Jimtown on Saturday. The Jimmies scored five runs in the sixth inning but Fairfield held off the rally to capture the win. Hunter Kauffman, Garrett Stoltzfus and Eli Miller drove in three of the Falcons earned runs. The Falcons are now 12-6 this season.
Goshen 13, Westview 8
Goshen used an unorthodox start to its rally to comeback late against Westview at home on Saturday afternoon. You can read more from this game inside our full story on our website.
NorthWood 10, Culver Academies 2
NorthWood scored 10 runs on just four hits to win at home over Culver Academies on Saturday. The Panthers were walked 15 times in the game, included four to Mason Bogan and three to Connor Reed. Nate Dutkowski was 1-of-2 at the plate and drove in three runs to help NorthWood improve to 12-7.
FW Concordia 12, Wawasee 1 (5 innings)
Wawasee lost at home to Fort Wayne Concordia on Saturday. The Warriors gave up 10 runs in the first inning but scored one in the third. Two more runs for the Cadets in the fifth was enough to run-rule Wawasee. Luke Lehman was 2-of-2 and Addison Coy drove in the lone run for the hosts. Wawasee dops to 0-14.
SOFTBALL
Concord 7, Lakeland 6
Concord 8, Lakeland 4
Concord swept a doubleheader against Lakeland on Saturday in Dunlap. In the first game, Concord allowed four runs in the final two innings but held on for the win. Cassi Reames was 4-of-4 at the plate and drove in two runs and hit two doubles. Kendall Hodge was 1-of-3 at the dish and drove in two runs.
In the second game Concord scored five runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead and power itself to a sweep of Lakeland. Laela Moore was 3-of-4 at the plate for the Minutemen and drove in four runs. Reames was 1-of-4 while Hodge drove in two runs again. Concord is now 11-7.
Central Noble 18, Goshen 1 (5 innings)
Goshen dropped a road contest to Central Noble on Saturday. The Cougars tallied 19 hits to Goshen’s three. The RedHawks drop to 3-12 with the loss.
Elkhart 12, Northridge 2 (5 innings)
FW Northrop 10, Northridge 5
Northridge dropped both contests of its road venture to Elkhart on Saturday. In the first game against the home Lions, the Raiders gave up runs in each of the five innings played with freshman Leighla Winchester in the circle. Rielyn Goodwin and Halle Moeller both tallied two hits with Goodwin driving in the lone earned run.
In the second game, Northridge started in a five-run hole before trying to claw back late. Addi Knisley was 2-of-2 at the dish and drove in three runs while Mia Branam was 2-of-3 and scored three times herself. Northridge is now 10-7 this season.
FW Carroll 10, Wawasee 9
Wawasee dropped a close contest with Fort Wayne Carroll on Saturday. Down 10-2 by the third inning, Wawasee scored the last seven runs, including two in the seventh to draw close, but no further at the home of the Chargers. Hadley Allen was 3-of-5 at the plate and drove in three runs while MariJo Bontrager was 3-of-4 and drove in two runs. Wawasee is now 7-13 with the road loss.

Bethany Christian finished sixth out of nine teams at Plymouth’s Invitational on Saturday at Pretty Lake Golf Club. Leading the 18-hole match for the Bruins was Keagan Meyer with a score of 81. Behind him was Noah Schrock (88), Noah Subera (94), Gideon Miller (95) and Ethan Claassen (124).

Fairfield finished fourth, Goshen placed sixth, Wawasee was eighth and Concord was 10th at the Concord Invitational at Bent Oak GC Saturday. Fairfield’s Brayden Miller won medalist honors as the lone under-par score of the afternoon, shooting 1-under-par 71. Following behind him for the Falcons were Jake Elliott (89), Jayce Smith (91), Jasper Carl (93) and Ben Kio (94).
For Goshen, Todd Kauffman led the RedHawks with a score of 79. Behind him for Goshen was Josh Narayan (86), Kael Bestul (90), Kendal Scott (91) and Isaac Pfahler (97). For Wawasee, Preston Scherer led the Warriors with an 11-over-par 83 as teammates Jack Shoemaker (86), Kane Dukes (93) and Carson Scherer (95) followed. Concord was led by Nathan Potter and Lucas Prough dual scores of 90. Behind them were Mason Oiler (97), Rogan Russell (98) and Morgan Wyatt (106).
GIRLS TENNIS
LaPorte Invitational
Concord (1-1): W 5-0 vs. La Lumiere; L 3-2 vs. LaPorte
Concord split dual matches at LaPorte on Saturday. The Minutemen swept La Lumiere before falling to the host Slicers by a score of 3-2. No individual scores were submitted by publication. Concord is now 7-10 this season.
Angola Invitational
Fairfield (32), Valparaiso (27), Mississinewa (14), Norwell (14), Angola A (14), Fremont (13), FW Blackhawk (11), Angola B (0)
Fairfield finished first at the Angola Invite on Saturday. The Falcons were led by a pair of first-place finishes at No. 1 singles (Lacy Stoltzfus) and No. 1 doubles (Elise Schwartz and Vienna Griffith). Neither gave up a set in there three matches. No. 2 doubles team Lauren Troyer and Greta Hochstetler finished second with a three-set championship loss while No. 2 singles Allie Stahly and No. 3 singles Taylor Schreck finished third.
TRACK AND FIELD
NE Middle Distance Showcase at FW NorthSide
Northridge sent three athletes to Fort Wayne for the NorthSide Northeast Middle Distance Showcase. Twins Baylor and Xavier Miller represented the boys program as Dakotah Moore represented the girls. Moore finished seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.22. In the boys race, Baylor finished second with a school-record time of 1:51.94 while Xavier was 10th with a time of 1:56.67.
GOSHEN CITY FC
Goshen City FC 3, Tulip City United 1
Goshen City FC got off to a solid start to its debut season in the Midwest Premier League. Up in Holland, Michigan, the crew earned their first win of the regular season with a 3-1 win at Tulip City United. Scoring for the visitors, which came back from a 1-0 deficit early, were Joao Laranja, Adrian Gonzales Martinez and Javier Enciso. Goshen City FC is now 1-0-0 and returns home to face Holland Rovers in a battle between first-place teams in the Great Lakes West.
