It’s understandable that Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller might want to see his old team win the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals over the New York Knicks.
However, it’s hard to ignore how a little bias seeped into Miller’s broadcast of Game 6 on Saturday night.
After star Knicks superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns went down to the court and looked to be in pain while holding his knee, Miller doubted the New York standout was actually ailing before he went to the free-throw line.
“I think he’s fine,” Miller said on the broadcast. “I think this is all for show.”
It’s… very fair to ask if he’d make that kind of commentary if a Pacers player hit the court and was holding their knee in pain.
Well… that’s not awkward at all.
Just listen to the way Miller and co-announcer Stan Van Gundy discuss how the series has been officiated. This seems likely to invite some very fair criticism from New York fans of a skewed broadcast.
If you’re a Knicks fan, it’s hard to listen to this series broadcast and think the announcing has been fully fair to New York. With Miller’s involvement, you’d be well within your rights to call shenanigans.
