The NFL draft is finally coming to Washington, D.C. According to a report from Axios, President Donald Trump will announce that the District of Columbia will host the 2027 NFL draft, likely on the National Mall.

Washington Commanders‘ managing partner Josh Harris and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will join Trump at the White House for Monday’s announcement.

This comes one week after the Commanders reached a deal with Washington, D.C., to build a new stadium on the RFK Stadium campus. Harris and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser held a joint press conference, where Goodell joined them. The D.C. Council must still approve the stadium deal, and some members have expressed resistance against the project.

The development would cost around $3.7 billion, with the Commanders covering up to $2.5 billion. The new domed stadium would seat 65,000. Additionally, 6,000 homes and an entertainment district would be a part of the redevelopment, also creating numerous jobs for Washington-area residents.

Trump has expressed support for the Commanders’ new stadium in D.C.

Last month, the 2026 NFL draft was held in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The 2026 NFL draft will be held in Pittsburgh.
