Republican congressman faces hostile constituents at public meeting

Republican leaders have advised their members to avoid participating in town hall meetings with constituents during the August recess.

However, a handful have defied the guidance, including Representative Mike Flood of Nebraska, who faced a hostile crowd over President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending legislation.

Following the heated exchange at his 4 August town hall, Flood announced it would be his final public forum of 2025.
