Roundball Classic high school hoops showcase set for this weekend at North Hagerstown

The annual Roundball Classic will be held at North Hagerstown’s Hub Arena this weekend, showcasing two full days of high school basketball in the 18th edition of the all-star jamboree.

There are 12 games on the schedule — six Saturday and six Sunday — featuring 363 players from 138 schools in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

At last year’s event, 56 men’s and women’s college coaches were in attendance. Overall, 1,749 Roundball Classic participants have gone on to play in college — 1,142 boys and 607 girls.

There are several regional rivalry boys games, including the South Mountain Showdown (Washington County vs. Frederick County) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Event director Dave Foltz said the highest level of talent will be featured in the Mid-Atlantic Boys Showcase on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Here’s the schedule:

Saturday’s games

12 p.m. — Girls Shooting Stars Elite

1:30 p.m. — Girls Mid-Atlantic Showcase

3 p.m. — Boys Shooting Stars

4:30 p.m. — Boys Piedmont

6 p.m. — Boys Battle for the Free State

7:30 p.m. — Boys South Mountain Showdown

Sunday’s games

10:30 a.m. — Boys Rising Stars Underclassmen Showcase

12 p.m. — Boys Mason Dixon All-Stars

1:30 p.m. — Boys Battle for the Potomac

3 p.m. — Boys Battle of the Beltways

4:30 p.m. — Boys Mid-Atlantic Showcase

6 p.m. — Boys Civil War on the Floor
