Sabrina Ionescu shines as Liberty top Wings for third straight victory

Sabrina Ionescu posted 16 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the New York Liberty to an 88-77 road win over the Dallas Wings on Friday night in Arlington, Texas, marking their third straight victory.

Jonquel Jones hit 4 of 5 from beyond the arc en route to 14 points, while Emma Meesseman delivered 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals.


Leonie Fiebich also scored 14 before fouling out. Breanna Stewart (right knee) missed her sixth straight game.

Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 17 points, including 12 in the third quarter, while Maddy Siegrist scored 15 off the bench. Myisha Hines-Allen added 12 points and seven boards.

Rookie Paige Bueckers (back) sat out after being injured Tuesday against New York; Dallas is now 1-6 without her.
The Liberty shot 46.3% overall and 38.5% from 3-point range, compared to 40% shooting for Dallas, which went just 3-for-21 from deep. New York built a 19-point lead in the second quarter and led 50-34 at halftime, paced by Meesseman’s 14 points.
Dallas rallied in the third, using a 21-6 run to close within 58-55 before New York carried a 64-57 lead into the fourth. Fiebich’s triple ignited a 13-1 Liberty run to push the margin to 77-58.

Siegrist responded with nine straight points to get Dallas within 10, but Jones buried a late 3-pointer to seal it.

The loss was Dallas’ fourth straight, while New York improved to 20-10 and continued its push toward the top of the WNBA standings.
