Reinforcements have been rushed to the Lasana area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district after security forces and the police exchanged fire with militants in the forest Monday night.
The Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed it in a post on X. “Op Lasana. Contact was established with #terrorists during a joint #operation with @JmuKmrPolice at #Lasana, #Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping,” it added.
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Reasi district to flag off the first train between Katra and Srinagar on April 19, the security forces and the police have initiated search and combing operations on a massive scale across Jammu to flush out militants.
Sources said the forces had launched a joint operation in the area when they were fired upon by militants hiding inside the forests. The security forces retaliated. The area has since been cordoned off.
Last week, joint forces killed three foreign militants in Kishtwar district’s Chatroo area. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition were also seized from them.
