Significant Progress Made In Construction of RMU in Kazipet: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Hyderabad: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that significant progress has been made with respect to construction of Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU) at Kazipet, with the civil and electrical infrastructure nearing completion and the majority of the machinery and plants delivered.

The Union Minister said the Indian railways has planned to develop the RMU at Kazipet at a cost of Rs. 521.36 crore which will be capable of manufacturing and maintaining a variety of modern rolling stocks. Significant progress has been made, with the civil and electrical infrastructure nearing completion and the majority of the machinery and plants delivered.

Till July’ 2025 expenditure amounting to Rs. 310.78 crore has been incurred on this work, Ashwini Vaishnaw. He said this while replying to a question posed by Congress MP M Anil Kumar Yadav in Rajya Sabha on Friday on Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Kazipet, as mandated under schedule 13 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014.

He also sought to know whether the government has fixed any tentative date by which the ICF at Kazipet will be operational.

The RMU in Kazipet is being constructed in 160 acre of land. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the unit in July 2023.
