Michigan State baseball had a very solid weekend, going on the road to Penn State and winning a series against the Nittany Lions, taking two of three games over the weekend. The Spartans also took a win over Oakland during a midweek game this past Wednesday.
A big part of the Spartans series victory over the Nittany Lions was the bat of Ryan McKay, a sophomore from Clarkston, Michigan. McKay went 9-for-14 over the weekend, while going 4-for-4 against Oakland on Wednesday night. A total of 13-for-18 for the week, McKay slashed a nasty .722 / .762 / .833 for the week.
For his efforts this week, McKay has been recognized by the Big Ten Conference as the conference’s Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Reese Moore of Iowa.
Michigan State has a big week ahead, going on the road to face Notre Dame, before coming home to faceoff with Illinois in another Big Ten series.
