TSSAA basketball: Oak Ridge beats Walker Valley in state tournament
Oak Ridge won its 21st straight game, beating Walker Valley 60-39 to advance to the semifinals of the Class 4A TSSAA boys basketball state tournament.
A number of student athletes, including some who recently graduated Oak Ridge High School, have been named CAREacter Star Athletes.
The student athletes are honored not just for their ability as an athlete, but for their attitude, character, community service and grades, according to Keys Fillauer, the former Oak Ridge Board of Education chairman, teacher and coach who is a member of the organization, CAREacter Star Athlete.
The selections are made by the coaching staffs and represent football, basketball and baseball.
‘Our organization is represented is high schools across East Tennessee and well as the University of Tennessee,” Fillauer stated in an email.
- FOOTBALL: Malachi Bonner, Ethan Eubanks, Carson Nivens, Tevoirea Threat, Hudson Lee, Dallas Frendt, Frankie Oteiza, TJ Hibbing, Cooper Goetzinger, Blaine Stansberry, Tyree Porter Richie Ferreira, Rush Douglas, and Dominic Fields.
- BASEBALL: Peyton Witter, Cy Stephens, Kamden Welch, Parker Free, and Warren East.
- LADY WILDCATS BASKETBALL: Ze’Yanna Stewart, Evelyn Eubanks, Paige Lawing, Honesty Thompson, and Ayana Porter.
- WILDCATS BASKETBALL: Rayquan Watson, Garrett Giles, Charlie Taubenheim, Shamar Greene and Cooper Williams.
