The Telangana Government will establish the Future City Development Authority soon to promote the planned development of a world-class city. The Fourth City, as mooted by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Future City, would be sustainable and aspire to be the first net-zero city in the country.
The Authority will ensure seamless execution, making this initiative a model for next generation urban development in India.
Addressing the inaugural day of the Budget session of the Assembly, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said the Future City would mark a transformative step in Telangana’s urban and industrial growth, spanning 765 sq. km across 56 villages in 7 mandals.
“Strategically located between Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar Highways, this ambitious project integrates smart urban infrastructure, sustainable industrial development, and inclusive residential planning,” he said.
Investments
The Governor the State Government concluded deals worth ₹1.78 lakh crore in Davos recently, which promised to generate 78,950 jobs. “Key sectors like data centres, green energy, food processing, electric vehicles, and defence manufacturing saw major investments that resonated strongly with global investors,” he said.
A new policy for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) had been unveiled to support entrepreneurs, enhance competitiveness, and facilitate access to domestic and international markets, he said.
Stating that the State leads in IT and electronics innovation, he said the Government was trying to expand IT hubs beyond Hyderabad, ensuring balanced regional growth. “Dedicated IT parks are being developed to attract global players, with Hyderabad cementing its status as the AI and Data Centre Capital of the country,” he said.
“To strengthen the textile industry and uplift power loom workers, the Government has established a ₹50 crore Yarn Depot in Vemulawada, Rajanna Siricilla District.
Telangana, with its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and historic landmarks, has immense potential to emerge as a premier tourism destination. “Recognising this, the government formulated the first-ever Telangana Tourism Promotion Policy, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, developing unexplored tourist circuits, and promoting eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and adventure tourism,” he said.
The policy will provide a structured roadmap to attract both domestic and international tourists, creating new economic opportunities and generating employment in the sector. “We will focus on revitalising historic monuments, improving tourist amenities, and leveraging digital innovations to enhance visitor experiences. Special emphasis will be placed on developing temple tourism, tribal tourism, and wellness tourism,” the Governor said.
He said the State is also working to establish 6,000 EV charging stations by 2029-30 to support clean mobility. This green energy policy will enhance energy security, attract investments, and generate jobs, positioning Telangana as a national leader in clean energy and climate Action.
He said the Government has drawn up plans to reinstate the Village Revenue System, restoring the role of revenue officers at the grassroots level. This move strengthens rural governance, simplifies land-related services, and ensures the timely resolution of land issues.
The system was scrapped by the then Bharat Rashtra Samithi Government.
