Titleist gives its tour-proven SM10 wedges a bold Black Vapor finish with custom options and full grind selection.
Vokey Design wedges have been a staple in tour bags and weekend foursomes for years, thanks to their performance consistency, wide array of grind options, and shot-making versatility. Now, Titleist is giving its popular SM10 wedges a sharp new makeover with the release of the limited-edition Black Vapor finish—a stealthy, durable option that offers a clean, modern look with all the proven performance of the standard SM10 lineup.
The new Black Vapor wedges ($225 each) feature a Titanium Carbide Vapor finish applied via PVD treatment, enhancing durability while delivering a rich, dark look that minimizes glare at address. A smudge-resistant FPP coating adds an extra level of refinement, helping the clubhead stay clean throughout the round. From a visual standpoint, the package is finished off with a custom black and silver Golf Pride Z-Grip Cord grip, a Dynamic Gold Onyx shaft, and a matching BV Wings shaft label, creating a sleek, all-black aesthetic that should appeal to players who favor a stealthy setup.
But while the Black Vapor look may be new, everything beneath the surface remains rooted in the performance DNA of the SM10 line. The wedges still feature Vokey’s progressive center of gravity design, which helps dial in trajectory and distance control across lofts. The CG is positioned lower in the 46- to 52-degree wedges to better transition from a player’s iron set, and it’s moved higher in lofts 54 to 62 degrees for a flatter flight and more consistent contact on higher-lofted shots.
Spin control is a hallmark of Vokey wedges, and the SM10s continue that tradition with TX9 grooves that vary by loft—narrow and deep on the lower lofts for control on full shots, and wider and shallower on higher lofts for optimal spin on finesse shots around the green. Each groove is cut with a proprietary Spin Milled process and heat-treated for twice the durability compared to untreated grooves. Between the grooves, a parallel micro-texture enhances friction on partial swings to further improve control.
The Black Vapor finish is available in all 27 SM10 loft, bounce and grind combinations through custom order at Vokey.com in both right- and left-handed models, with 14 right-handed stock configurations available in golf shops starting July 24.
As Master Craftsman Bob Vokey puts it, “A player has to love their wedge when they look down at it, and finish plays a key role.” With the Black Vapor SM10s, Vokey gives golfers another reason to fall in love.
