Plenty of people were upset when the Los Angeles Lakers took Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, with the No. 55 pick in last year’s NBA draft. Many felt the elder James had steered the younger James into the NBA and onto the Lakers despite a weak 2023-24 season at the University of Southern California.

But that skepticism and anger have slowly subsided over the last few months. The younger James played well in the G League, even though he didn’t stay there consistently, and he averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals a game while shooting 44.3% from the field and 38% from 3-point range during the regular season with the South Bay Lakers.

There is a mixtape of the 20-year-old’s season highlights on Instagram, and it is sure to get fans excited about what may lie ahead for him.

The younger James is expected to play in the Las Vegas summer league in July, which will give fans another glimpse at his potential and where he is right now in his development.

In fact, one prominent ESPN reporter said recently that the guard is on a trajectory that could make him a rotation player in the NBA as soon as the middle of next season.
