One week remains in the 2025 SEC baseball regular season.
Ahead of the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, MLB released its list of the top 150 prospects for the 2025 MLB draft.
Among the prospects, Tennessee infielder Dean Curley ranks No. 54 overall. He is ranked No. 15 among shortstops and No. 7 among third basemen.
“More physical than most shortstops at 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, Curley has solid to plus raw power and lets it come naturally,” Curley’s scouting profile says. “He understands the strike zone and works from gap to gap with a quick, controlled right-handed stroke, but he has gotten overly selective at times this spring and hasn’t done as much damage against non-fastballs as he did as a freshman.”
After a narrow miss for a home run cycle in a midweek game against Kansas State, Curley catapulted into the starting lineup during Tennessee’s 2024 College World Series run. He finished the season with a .285 batting average, 63 hits, 50 RBIs, 12 home runs, 31 walks and nine stolen bases.
Through 53 games in 2025, Curley has recorded a .299 batting average, 60 hits, 39 RBIs, 11 home runs, 35 walks and seven stolen bases.
